If you’re looking to reduce fine lines and wrinkles and replenish youthful volume, our skilled team of cosmetologists and skincare specialists is here to help.
With age and time, the naturally occurring changes are most prominently observed on our skin. Caused by a multitude of various external and internal factors such as prolonged exposure to the sun, loosening of collagen, pigmentation, etc. makes the skin drier, damaged, dull, thinner, and less elastic. Over time such variations are visibly observed as fine lines, wrinkles, sagging skin, and age spots. Modern-day filler treatments and Botox procedures equipped with edge-cutting technologies ensure to minimize the visible signs of aging and radiate youth from within.
While both of these cosmetic procedures are aimed at reducing the signs of aging while enhancing facial features and restoring a youthful appearance, they differ in chemical composition.
Botox is the layman’s term used for the formulation of the botulinum protein (toxin). Although commonly used as a household cosmetic procedure, it is a trademark registered under the brand name of Allergan Pharmaceuticals. When this protein is administrated into the muscle, it causes it to stop contracting for a brief period of time. By slacking the movement of the muscles, it helps minimize the wrinkles and the inscribing lines of the skin. It works effectively even on severe wrinkles and fine lines.
On the other hand, Derma Fillers or commonly stated as Fillers, are artificial gels prepared from chemicals such as calcium hydroxyl apatite, hyaluronic acid, etc. These are injectables that are known to smooth fine lines and wrinkles, add volume, and enhance facial contours.
After consultation with a healthcare professional and properly evaluating one’s skin profile, expectations, and needs, the most appropriate procedure required is recommended.
Treatment areas – Depending on the area of the face, the treatment varies accordingly. Botox is more efficient in treating dynamic wrinkles which include forehead lines, crow’s feet, and lines between the eyebrows (glabellar lines). Fillers on the other hand are preferable used for treating cheek and lip augmentation, under-eye hollows, smile lines, and other variety of concerns.
Injection – Under the supervision of a skilled healthcare professional, these techniques are injected into the target areas. The product is often diluted according to the required proportion to achieve the desired results. The procedure is swift and rapid, taking only 10-15 minutes, non-invasive, and generally well-tolerated with minimal levels of discomfort.
Results – The outcomes of a filer treatment are typically observed immediately with a noticeable added volume and smoothness in the targeted area. According to the choice of filler injected, the results can last anywhere from 6 months to 2 years or even more. Alternatively, the results of Botox treatment are typically observed after a few days, becoming quite apparent within 1-2 weeks. These outcomes typically last for 4-5 months, with additional treatments needed to maintain the results.
Although the Botox and Filler procedures and treatments are completely safe and sound, there are certain common aftereffects that are typically observed. These include redness, bruising, inflammation, and mild lumpiness. These typically arise because of the administration of Botulinum neurotoxin or the synthetic chemicals used in fillers. However, these usually resolve within a few hours or 1-2 days.
